JWV Calls for Major General Peter Fuller’s Immediate Return to Military Service

November 2011

Washington, D.C. - The Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. strongly disagrees with the decision to remove Major General Peter Fuller as the deputy commander of the American-led NATO effort in Afghanistan. JWV supports him and demands his immediate return to service.

Maj. Gen. Fuller rightly and truthfully condemned top leaders in Afghanistan's government for being unappreciative of the sacrifices the United States has made to provide for their country's security.

As Maj. Gen. Fuller addressed, Afghan President Karzai, without hesitation, stated that if the US and Pakistan were at war, his country would support Pakistan.

Integrity is a necessary part of diplomacy, and the sentiment of Afghan Leadership is inappropriate for an ally that receives billions of dollars and significant military aide from the United States.

As a 30 year veteran of the army, Maj. Gen. Fuller has had a distinguished career. He should not have been relieved from duty for having the courage to speak truthfully about Afghanistan's senior leadership. JWV calls for a full denunciation of Afghan leadership and an apology to Maj. Gen. Fuller.
