JWV Demands that the US Recognize Jerusalem as Israeli Capital, Move Embassy

September 2011

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV), at its 116th Annual National Convention, unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the US Government to immediately recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The United States Congress has repeatedly recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and directed that our embassy be relocated there, but the Executive Branch has refused to comply with this mandate by seeking waivers and extensions.

Though Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for thousands of years, official US policy does not recognize this fact. Our embassy is located in Tel Aviv and official US Government maps of Israel in the White House do not show Jerusalem as the capital.

Israel, the one true Western democracy in the Middle East, continues to be one of America's strongest allies. It is time for the US Government to recognize Jerusalem, Israel's eternal capital.

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA calls upon President Obama to immediately comply with the Congressional mandate by moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem and printing maps that show Jerusalem as the capital.
